LOW POWER MODE OPERATION FOR GAUGERGSM:
A low power mode can be activated when GaugerGSM is electrically fed by X1PAK and PTS. In this mode of operation, the system follows four steps:
  • PTS keeps GaugerGSM "OFF" for a sleeping time interval.
  • When sleeping interval is over, PTS turns GaugerGSM to "ON".
  • GaugerGSM takes a measurement and transmits the measured data.
  • PTS turns GuagerGSM to "OFF" for another sleeping interval.
Two variants to this general scheme are supported:
  • Two different sleeping time intervals are supported plus a continuous ON state. PTS determines which sleeping interval to use depending on the measured level. Typically, a long sleeping interval (e.g. 4 hours) is used at low levels and short interval (e.g. 30 minutes) at mid levels. High measured level can keep GaugerGSM at a continuous "ON" state.
  • GaugerGSM takes a measurement at each ON state and stores the data locally. A transmission of the logged data occurs once per pre-defined wake-up times. Up to 20 measurements may be stored.
The main advantage for using low power mode is to extend battery life-time but real time alerts are not supported. The settings of the sleeping time intervals are all defined in the USB command LPST.

With a 4-cell X1PAK holding TL-5930 batteries, sleeping time interval of one hour, SMS based operation and good cellular network coverage - 2 years of operation can be expected before battery replacement.




INTRINSIC SAFE BATTERY PACK FOR HAZARDOUS EXPLOSIVE AREAS:
X1PAK is a battery pack certified for use in hazardous (explosive atmosphere) locations. The pack is designed to power equipment in locations where a remote power supply is not available.

The equipment comprises two parts interconnected by a cable:
  • Battery enclosure containing 3 or 4 LiSOCl2 cells in series
  • Protecting circuit device containing current-limiting circuitry (PTS)
Electrical and physical features:
  • 3-cell or 4-cell versions with nominal voltage of 10.8V or 14.4V
  • Series resistance of 25 Ohm / 45 Ohm (3 cell / 4 cell)
  • 4-Cell enclosure dimensions: 8(h) x 16 x 14 cm3

  • Enclosure rating of IP67
  • Capacity of 19AH
ATEX and IECEx certifications and restrictions:
  • Ex II 2G, Ex ib IIB T3 (162°C) Gb, Ta=-30°C; to +70°C
  • Allowed for use in ATEX zones 1 or zone 2 (Intrinsic safe)
  • MUST be used with Tadiran cells TL-5930 only (not included) !
  • Capacitance and inductance of powered equipment are restricted !
  • Battery enclosure must be connected to powered equipment via PTS !
